About the Program

The Member Grant Program is a charitable fund with a mission to benefit, support, and assist individual Legends of Basketball members in financial need — whether facing immediate hardship or seeking support for personal development.

Eligible Funding Categories

Mortgage relief
Medical or surgical expenses
Past-due debt
Funeral expenses
Career development
Vocational training

Award

Maximum $2,500 per grant; the Finance, Audit, and Compensation Committee has discretion to reduce amounts. Capped at $75,000 total awarded annually across all recipients.

Review Cycle

Applications must arrive by the 20th of each month for that cycle's review; allow 30 days from submission for a decision.

Eligibility

Must be a Legends of Basketball member
Adjusted gross income must not exceed $150,000
Cannot have received the Dave DeBusschere or Earl Lloyd scholarship in the current or preceding year
Limited to one grant every two years
Preference given to WNBA members, Harlem Globetrotters alumni, and former NBA players with fewer than three full seasons
