Launch Legends Life as the NBRPA's New Way of Serving Members

The platform should unfold in phases — each phase builds credibility rather than asking members to trust the whole system at once.

Phase 1

Listen & Gather Information

Theme: “Help Us Build Legends Life.” Member feedback, chapter listening sessions, surveys, NBA/NBPA engagement.

Months 1–3
Phase 2

Build Trust

Launch Legends Assist, establish service standards, and pilot member support.

Months 4–6
02

Ownership Messaging

Frame Legends Life as member-built, not committee-imposed. This creates ownership from day one.

“A committee didn't create Legends Life. It was built from the voices of our members.”
“We're building this with you—not for you.”
03

Listening Methodology — Beyond Surveys

We should not rely on surveys alone. The richest insights come from conversations rather than checkboxes. Conduct 20–30 structured member interviews, plus chapter listening sessions.

Speak with:

Younger retirees Older retirees Hall of Famers WNBA members Families / widows, where appropriate Chapter Presidents

Six Questions to Ask Every Member We Interview

  1. Tell me about your first year after retiring. What surprised you the most?
  2. What has been your biggest challenge since leaving the game?
  3. When you need help today, who do you call?
  4. What would make the NBRPA more valuable to you?
  5. What do you wish the NBRPA had done differently for you?
  6. Imagine the perfect NBRPA. What would it do for you that it doesn't do today?
