About Willie

Willie Davis (born August 9, 1945) built a professional basketball career that spanned multiple leagues across the United States and internationally. After attending North Texas State University, he was drafted in the 1968 NBA Draft before carving his path through the American Basketball Association and the Eastern Basketball Association — the minor leagues and developmental circuits that kept the sport alive during one of its most dynamic eras.

Davis earned individual honors in both domestic and international play, earning All-EBA First Team recognition in 1973 and winning the French League's top scoring award in 1969. These achievements reflect the versatility and skill of a player who succeeded wherever the game took him.

Since retiring from playing, Willie Davis has remained a dedicated servant of the professional basketball community. As Dallas Chapter President of Legends of Basketball, he has worked to connect and support former players across the DFW region — ensuring that the legends of the game receive the recognition and resources they deserve.

His commitment to the Membership Services Committee reflects decades of advocacy work on behalf of players from every era and every league.
